AVG 2012 update/installation freezing
Several AVG users contacted us in AVG forums and via other support channels, reporting AVG update or installation process freeze. Quick analysis of the issue revealed that root security certificates were not updated properly. In modern operating systems (Windows Vista and newer), this should be done automatically in background by the system when needed, however the certificate update requires fully functional Internet connection. Please proceed as indicated in one of the following FAQ articles should you face similar trouble:
Trojan horse infection
AVG Forums visitors reported a couple of Trojan horse infections which appeared to be difficult to remove. Should you face any trouble removing an infection detected by AVG, please check this AVG Forums thread for some tips on how to remove infections. An infection is sometimes coming back when stored in the System Volume Information folder. You can disable the operating system’s restore functionality temporarily in order to remove the malware from this location as described here.
If the infection is still coming back, it could be accompanied by an undetected rootkit. We recommend scanning your computer using updated AVG Rescue CD in such case. AVG Rescue CD is able to remove known rootkits easily.

AVG 2012 Service Pack 1
We have notified you about major AVG 2012 program update, the Service Pack 1, in our previous feedback update. As the program update can’t be installed using the update feature of your AVG client programs, the user must “Repair” the installation as described in of the following FAQ articles (follow the procedure number 2, not the “Control Panel” avenue):

False positive alarms
We noticed a couple of false positive alarms reported on forums in the past week. Anti-virus may detect a legitimate application sometimes when a part of its code is similar to a code in newly created malware. This situation happens from time to time with every anti-virus software. Even though AVG implements advanced anti-false mechanisms to minimize risk of false alarms, the situation may occur anyway. If you suspect an application has been detected incorrectly, please submit the respective file to our virus analysts. There are two options how to proceed:
A) Sending via web page http://samplesubmit.avg.com. Please note there is no feedback provided to sender in this case.
B) Sending via e-mail as described in this AVG Forums post. When a sample is analyzed, e-mail response is sent back to sender with result.
