As a company founded in the Czech Republic more than 20 years ago, AVG remains true to its roots.

This includes sponsoring and taking part in all the Olympic festivities at the Czech House in London this week.

The Czech House is run by the Czech Center, a London-based governmental, non-political agency associated with the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Their goal is to actively promote the Czech Republic in the UK by providing Brits with opportunities to experience Czech culture. As a home base for Olympic athletes and fans to enjoy live music, celebrate their medals and just chill out, the Czech House has been doing just that.

I heard the House has hosted more than 20,000 visitors this week so far. Yesterday, I was one of the 4,000 treated to appearances by Colin Jackson, a three-time British world champion sprinter and hurdler; American decathlete and 2008 gold medalist Bryan Clay; and world record holding Czech shooter Jan Sychra.

I enjoyed seeing Czech slalom canoer Stanislav Jezek, and only felt a slight pang of jealousy when he was presented with a free year’s supply of Pilsner Urquell, thanks to the House’s lively and well-stocked bar.

In the VIP area, I got to rub elbows with some of the UK’s top technology reporters before Czech funk band Monkey Business took the stage and rocked the place.

All in all, a great time—the Czech House is truly a once-in-a-lifetime place to be. And now I am off once again to celebrate the Olympic spirit, and root on my fellow countrymen.
