Friends, I can’t resist blogging about our new San Francisco office, which will now serve as our US headquarters.

I recently came to San Mateo from London where my family and I had always called home. The move was an adjustment for all of us, but we soon fell in love with our new environment. In all my travels, I don’t think any area offers up so much in terms of variety—the opportunities, people, scenery, lifestyles, food, culture and things to do run the gamut. I’ve gone to a Giants game in the city, toured the redwoods of Muir Woods, and tasted wine in Napa Valley all in the same day.

San Mateo has treated us well, but for a company that was quickly evolving from an online security company to a digital lifestyle brand with an expanded line of offerings, we found ourselves spending a lot more time in San Francisco, the epicenter of tech where many of the other innovative mobile, search and associated brands we work with call home. And no wonder. There’s an energy in San Francisco you can’t feel anywhere else. It’s the buzz of inspired, innovative talent at work—talent that has also made itself home at AVG where we continue to breed new ideas and products that support our evolving lifestyles in a digital world.

The move was also made necessary by our considerable expansion over the years, and as AVG has evolved, I believe I, my family, and other imported colleagues have evolved. We are no longer just Londoners. We are also San Franciscans. We may have left a big part of our hearts in London, but our hearts have become bigger still just by living and working in the City by the Bay.
