AVG Antivirus FREE needs to be updated

Please be informed that as of September 25 users of AVG AntiVirus FREE 2011 and 2012 will be able to upgrade to AVG Antivirus Free 2013. This easy upgrade option is available through system tray notification message. Please click the Update now button to start the update process.

To postpone the update click Later. You will be reminded again in a couple of days or you may upgrade manually. More information can be found in the FAQ 5274. Do not hesitate to contact AVG Customer Care experts or use the AVG Forums if further assistance is needed.

False positive alarms

We noticed a couple of false positive alarms were reported on forums in the past week. Anti-virus software may sometimes flag a legitimate application as malicious when a part of its code is similar to a code in newly created malware. AVG implements advanced anti-false mechanisms to minimize risk of false alarms to prevent this. If you are sure that AVG has marked one of your clean files as malicious, please submit the respective file to our virus analysts. There are two ways to do this:

A) Send us the file via this web page.

B) Contact us via e-mail as described in this AVG Forums post. When a sample is analyzed, e-mail response is sent back to sender with result.

More information about false positive alarms is available in the above linked AVG Forums article or in FAQ 2343.

System Tools are not available in AVG’s 2013 Offerings

We have received reports that the System Tools component is missing. We would like to inform you that AVG’s 2013 offerings do not contain System Tools that were part of previous versions of AVG. Please find more information and alternatives in the FAQ 5275.

Activation of new AVG PC TuneUp®.

We have recently launched a brand new version of AVG PC TuneUp®, a utility program which helps optimize your computer settings to help your computer run faster, fixes registry errors to improve system stability and even extends laptop battery life.

The new AVG PC TuneUp uses a different type of license number than the existing AVG PC TuneUp so current users will not be able to activate the new product with their present licenses. Please visit the AVG upgrade page to generate license number or go to FAQ 3881 for more details. You may contact Sales department or AVG Customer Care experts if you experience any difficulties.
